Do You See Him Clearly? | John 7:15-24

The way you see Jesus shapes the way you respond to Him. In John 7, Jesus confronts expectations, human standards, and appearances that can distort our view of who He really is.

Do you see Jesus clearly, or are you seeing the Jesus you expect Him to be?

In John 7:15-24, the crowds were looking at the same Jesus, yet they came to completely different conclusions about Him. Some questioned His credentials. Others judged His actions. Some were afraid to even speak openly about Him. Their vision was distorted by expectations, human standards, fear, and appearances.

The same thing can happen to us.

We can allow disappointment, culture, comparison, unanswered prayers, personal expectations, or the opinions of others to become the lens through which we see Jesus. When the lens is distorted, our judgment becomes distorted too.

Jesus challenges us to look deeper. He tells us not to judge by appearances, but to judge with right judgment. Following Jesus requires surrendering our assumptions and allowing Him to correct the way we see.

Sometimes God says go. Sometimes He says stay. Sometimes He says not yet. Obedience means trusting His timing instead of responding to the pressure of people.

The question is not whether Jesus fits the picture we have created of Him. The question is whether we are willing to let our picture submit to who Jesus truly is.
