Fight or Follow: Are You Walking in the Light? | John 8:1-20

Jesus is the Light of the world, but we have a choice. We can fight the Light, question the Light, and hide from the Light, or we can follow Him wherever He leads.

In John 8:1-20, Jesus encounters a woman dragged publicly into shame, religious leaders trying to trap Him, and people who refuse to accept what is right in front of them. Through it all, Jesus reveals both the grace that refuses to define us by our worst moment and the truth that refuses to leave us where we are.

Jesus declares, “I am the light of the world.” The question is not simply whether we believe the Light exists. The question is whether we are willing to follow Him.

Sometimes we fight the Light by reviewing what Jesus says instead of responding to it. We trust our limited knowledge, try to measure Jesus by human standards, or keep looking for a different answer when God has already spoken.

Following the Light means letting Jesus lead, staying close to Him, allowing Him to expose what needs to change, and reflecting His light to the people around us.

Where are you asking Jesus to follow you instead of allowing Him to lead?
