What Happens When You Believe? | John 8:21–30

Believing in Jesus changes more than what you think. It changes what happens to your sin, where you stand with God, and where death ultimately takes you.

Every decision has consequences, but some decisions have eternal consequences.

In John 8:21–30, Jesus confronts His listeners with a question that every person eventually has to answer: What are you going to do with Jesus?

Jesus makes it clear that unbelief has consequences, but so does belief. When you place your faith in Christ, your sin is forgiven, your relationship with God changes, and death no longer gets the final word.

Believing in Jesus means you no longer have to live under the guilt of what He has already forgiven. You are no longer standing outside trying to earn your way into God’s family. Through Christ, you belong to Him. And because of Jesus, you can face death with the hope of eternal life in His presence.

Knowing about Jesus is not the same as belonging to Jesus. Christianity is more than knowing the songs, understanding church language, or even knowing Scripture. The invitation is to trust who Jesus says He is, trust what He has done, and give Him your sin, your life, and your eternity.

Unbelief has consequences. But so does belief.
