What Are You Waiting For? | John 7:25-52

At some point, knowing more is not the issue. The question is what you will do with what you already know about Jesus.

In John 7:25-52, the debate surrounding Jesus continues to intensify. Some are curious. Some believe. Some resist. Others are so committed to their own opinions and agendas that they refuse to see the truth standing right in front of them.

But Jesus keeps extending the same invitation: Come.

In this message, “What Are You Waiting For?”, we look at the danger of allowing culture, algorithms, opinions, fear, and personal preferences to shape what we believe about Jesus instead of Scripture. We also see that Jesus cannot simply be edited to fit our lives. If He is Lord, He has the authority to challenge our plans, priorities, relationships, finances, comfort, and choices.

For many of us, the problem is not a lack of evidence. We already know enough to take the next step. We know enough to surrender. We know enough to be baptized. We know enough to serve. We know enough to get connected. At some point, delay can become disobedience.

Jesus also gives one of the great invitations of Scripture: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” Christianity is not simply behavior modification or trying harder. Jesus gives His Spirit, providing the power we need for holiness, boldness, obedience, endurance, forgiveness, service, and transformation.

The invitation Jesus gave in John 7 is still being offered today.
