You Can Be Religious and Still Miss God

Can you know the Bible, attend church, serve faithfully, and still miss what it means to truly follow Jesus?

In Romans 2, the Apostle Paul delivers a challenging message to those who believe their religious knowledge, good works, or spiritual background make them right with God. While Romans 1 reveals the world's need for the Gospel, Romans 2 exposes a truth that hits much closer to home: even the religious and self-righteous desperately need God's grace.

In this message from our THIS IS THE BIBLE series, we explore how God's judgment exposes hypocrisy, why His patience should lead us to repentance, and why knowing God's Word isn't the same as obeying it.

It's easy to recognize sin in someone else's life while making excuses for our own. We can know Scripture, attend church, serve, give, and do all the right religious things while still holding on to pride, unforgiveness, and hidden sin.

But God isn't looking for religious appearances. He's looking for transformed hearts.

Romans 2 reminds us that religious knowledge cannot save us, religious activity cannot make us righteous, and outward obedience cannot replace the inward transformation that only the Holy Spirit can produce.

The Gospel doesn't simply make us better religious people. It changes us from the inside out.

The Gospel can change the heart religion can't.

As you watch, ask yourself: Am I simply going through the motions of religion, or is the Holy Spirit truly transforming my heart?

Join us at Frontline Church as we continue walking verse by verse through the book of Romans, discovering the truth of God's Word and how it applies to our everyday lives.
